About the local areaKeadue village is located in the most northerly part of County Roscommon: is set at the foot of the the Arigna Mountains, adjacent to Lough Allen and Lough Meelagh. In 1993 Keadue became the first village in the West of Ireland to Win the National title in the Bord Failte “ Irish Tourist Organisation” Tidy Towns Competition. This Success was repeated in 2003 & 2004 WHEN Keadue was again declared the best kept town-village in Ireland and also won silver Medal award in the European Entente Florale Competition.
Keadue: Beside the Village is Kilronan Castle, Kilronan Abbey, O’Carolans Grave, Greyfield House, Lasair’s Well, the Cistrachan in Greyfield, Passage graves at Crosshill, Charmber Cairn on the Kilronan mountain overlooking Keadue, Cooking Mounds in carrowbeg, The Banshee Split Rock near Carrowbeg House and the Gaint’s Graves near the Southern shores of Lough Meelagh and Knockranny House
